MACHAN: Rising floodwaters here have left several areas inaccessible, prompting Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong and his wife, Dinamicayanti Daris, to distribute 500 aid packages to affected residents.
The relief supplies, which included dry food and clean water, were delivered with the assistance of multiple agencies after worsening flood conditions made land travel difficult.
Allan explained that his team initially planned to send aid to Lesih, Teluk Legam, Bunut, and Jagoi last Saturday. However, submerged roads delayed the distribution until last Sunday.
“We sought assistance from the Royal Malaysian Police Kanowit district to deploy the police marine boat for aid delivery.

“The food aid distribution was also carried out with the cooperation of the Social Welfare Department, the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Kanowit District Fire and Rescue Department, and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force,” he said, adding that the collaboration between government agencies and the community is essential to ensuring timely assistance for flood victims.
Allan also extended aid to residents in Lipus, Melipis, Sekuau, and Rantau Kemiding, where access has been completely cut off by the floods.
Kanowit district police chief DSP Dennis Bunyam was among those present during the aid delivery mission.
