KUCHING: The Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) remains steadfast in its mission to develop more junior tennis players and keep the sport thriving.
Its president Datuk Patrick Liew said the association successfully organised multiple international and local tournaments here, along with junior development initiatives last year.
He assured that this year, SLTA will continue with their efforts to develop more junior players and to ensure the sport remains relevant.
“I therefore would take this opportunity to thank my organising committee, who have contributed in one way or another to making this association vibrant, both in organising tournaments and developing juniors,” he said.

Liew also encouraged members to continue to stay active in playing tennis.
“For those aged 60 and above, I wish you good health and stay healthy. For those under 60, play more tennis and keep the sport alive,” he said.
Stressing SLTA’s commitment to tennis, Liew called upon members to prioritise the sport over other racquet games.
“Don’t play too much pickleball. You can play socially, but tennis is your first priority. Bear in mind, your best is SLTA,” he said.
Earlier, the event saw junior players aged 18 and below receive their ‘Ang Pows (red packets)’ before dinner commenced.
The evening’s highlights included a firecracker lighting ceremony, a lion dance performance, and a spectacular fireworks display.
