KOTA SAMARAHAN: The General Operations Force (GOF) seized various frozen food products worth RM3.8 million during an operation codenamed ‘Op Taring Chiller’ yesterday (Feb 10).
Sarawak GOF Brigade commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said two local men, aged 31 and 41, were arrested in the 10.30 am raid.
The 11th Battalion’s Intelligence Branch inspected a premises in Kota Samarahan following suspicions that it was being used as a cold storage facility for food products.
“Further checks led to the discovery of 60,352kg of various frozen food products inside two containers at the premises.
“The products and a forklift, valued at RM3,801,120 based on market price, were seized,” he said in a statement.
Che Ghazali added that the suspects and seized items wee handed over to the Sarawak Veterinary authorities for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 9(1)(3) of the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance 1999.
From Jan 1 to Feb 10, the Sarawak GOF Brigade recorded enforcement success worth RM70.4 million, involving 42 cases, 82 arrests, and the seizure of 35 vehicles.
