BETONG: Politeknik METrO Betong Sarawak (PMBS) has renewed and expanded its regional education partnerships after signing a Letter of Intent (LoI) with six institutions from Indonesia and the Philippines during a commemorative virtual signing ceremony held today.
In the statement, the ceremony renewed long-standing collaborative commitments with four Indonesian partner institutions – Politeknik Negeri Pontianak, Politeknik Negeri Sambas, Politeknik Negeri Semarang and Politeknik Negeri Medan – while also welcoming two new partners: Politeknik Negeri Bali from Indonesia and Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) from the Philippines.
PMBS’ Director, Shirley Phillip, said she hoped the cross-border collaboration would become a strong bridge connecting knowledge, culture and international expertise.
She added that the partnership was expected to open up high-impact opportunities for students and educators, and to elevate the quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across Southeast Asia, she said.
Through the LoI, the participating institutions agreed to explore cooperation in areas including the sharing of expertise and facilities, joint training and certification consultancies, human capital development, implementation of Lifelong Learning (PSH) programmes, as well as collaborative research, innovation and entrepreneurship development.
The collaboration, driven by mutual cooperation among institutions in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, is expected to yield innovative projects and community initiatives benefiting all participating partners.
