KUCHING: Rising Muay Thai talent Jay Tytus Rentap Newman continues to make waves in the sport, securing a victory at the Samarahan Muay Thai Challenge 2025.
The 16-year-old fighter, who trains at SS Fighters Muay Thai Gym, displayed his striking skills and determination in his win against Ryan Mackingstone Layong Mackensen from Sting Muay Thai Club in the 61-64kg weight class.
“I feel good and happy. I want to give a massive shout-out to God for giving me the win,” he told Sarawak Tribune after his victory on Friday (Feb 14).
Born of Eurasian and Iban descendants, he credited his triumph to the focused strategies drilled into him by his coach Joy and the experienced seniors during his training in the past year.
“There were a few strategies going into it, which my seniors and coach Joy taught me during the whole month of training,” he said.
Jay noted that he draws inspiration from Muay Thai legends Nabil Anane and Buakaw Banchamek, admiring their technical prowess and discipline, which he hopes to emulate as he progresses in the sport.
“I admire their skill and discipline, and I hope to improve my own technique,” he added.
With this victory, the Kuching lad has confirmed that he’s ready to step into more future Muay Thai battles, eager for the challenges and adrenaline that await him in the ring.
