KUCHING: Sarawak’s media practitioners were commended for keeping the public informed about the state’s development efforts.
Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh extended his gratitude during a media appreciation night attended by representatives from approximately 20 media agencies.
He highlighted the crucial role of media in keeping Sarawakians informed, particularly acknowledging their comprehensive coverage of the 16th Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Triennial General Meeting last week.
He credited the media for ensuring that the convention’s proceedings reached not only the people of Sarawak but also the entire nation.
“Alhamdulillah, during that convention, I offered myself as a candidate for the vice presidency and I am grateful to have secured the fourth position,
“For that, I would like to extend my appreciation to all delegates, observers from PBB, and the candidates who participated in the convention,” he said during the event here, on Wednesday (Feb 19).
He emphasised that the convention was a collective victory for PBB, with a smooth and peaceful election process.
“To me, the convention was a victory for PBB as a whole — no one lost. If we observe the election process, everything proceeds smoothly and peacefully. This reflects the political maturity of PBB within the broader Malaysian political landscape.
“The three days we spent at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) truly showcased PBB’s spirit of unity; it was a large-scale ‘family affair.’ This culture will continue to shape the political environment in Sarawak and Malaysia,” he added.
Reaffirming his appreciation, Len Talif commended the media for their unwavering commitment to keeping the public informed, ensuring that Sarawak’s progress and political stability remain transparent and accessible to all.
