MIRI: JCI Miri has been selected to host the 2025 Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) programme, bringing this prestigious national event back to Sarawak after six years.
The initiative will officially launch on March 3 at the Mercure Hotel, marking the beginning of an inspiring campaign to honour exceptional young leaders across Malaysia.
Speaking at JCI Miri’s 63rd Installation and Award Luncheon on Sunday, Sarawak’s Minister of Transport, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin commended the organisation’s commitment to fostering leadership and driving positive change.
Beyond TOYM, JCI Miri has planned a series of impactful initiatives for the year ahead, including:
- Yakin Basketball Competition (21st March) – A tournament aimed at promoting sportsmanship and youth engagement;
- JCI Youth RRSS Installation (April) – A leadership programme dedicated to nurturing the next generation of young changemakers;
- Sisterhood Yilan Visit (March 14-16) – A cross-border exchange to strengthen international collaboration’
- Business Networking Event ‘Mixology’ – A platform designed to facilitate professional growth and business connections; and
- Community Projects: MediBridge & Borneo SDG (June) – Two key initiatives focusing on healthcare access and sustainable development, aiming to leave a lasting impact on local communities.
“These initiatives embody the very spirit of JCI—uniting people, cultivating leadership, and creating meaningful change,” Lee stated.
“As we celebrate today, let us remember that true leadership is not just about personal success, but about empowering others, building stronger communities, and leaving a legacy for the future.”
Also present were Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting and Mayor Adam Yii.
During the event, Ting was appointed JCI Miri Senator.
