BELADIN: Fifty-eight fishermen here received the keys to their new homes under the Beladin Fishermen Resettlement Programme (PSN).
Beting Maro assemblyman, Razaili Gapor, who officiated at the handing over ceremony, said the PSN was important in providing fishermen with a more comfortable living environment.
He also announced that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had contributed RM10,000 per house to help fishermen settle into their new homes.
He also hoped that the newly completed fish landing complex in the area would begin operations soon to boost the local fisheries industry.
“With improving infrastructure and the great potential of Beladin’s fisheries industry, it is hoped that initiatives like these will continue to expand for the benefit of fishermen and the local economy,” he said.
Meanwhile, the event also saw the distribution of ‘bubur lambuk’ (savoury porridge) to the local community in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.
