MIRI: Three men have been arrested after a female worker was injured during an armed robbery at a mini-market in Tudan here, in the early hours of Friday (Aug 21).
The incident happened at about 5.30 am on that day when the suspects allegedly broke through the shop door and attacked the worker with a sharp weapon.
The woman suffered injuries to her hand and shoulder and was taken to Miri Hospital for treatment.
The suspects are believed to have escaped with cash and several items belonging to the worker and the premises.
Miri police said three local men, aged between 28 and 39, were arrested following information received and investigations by the district Criminal Investigation Division.
Police also seized several items believed to be linked to the case, including mobile phones, clothing and a motorcycle.
The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery involving the use of a dangerous weapon.
A person convicted under the relevant provisions may face up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping.
Police said investigations were continuing and that firm action would be taken against anyone found to have been involved in the robbery.
