KUCHING: A monsoon surge is expected to hit the region from March 17 to 21, potentially bringing continuous rain to Sarawak, Sabah, and the southern parts of Peninsular Malaysia.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia), the weather system could also trigger strong winds and rough seas in the South China Sea.
In response, MET Malaysia has issued a strong wind and rough sea warning, which will be in effect from March 18 to 21.
A continuous rain warning would be issued once weather models reach a high confidence level, the department added.
The public is advised to stay updated through MET Malaysia’s official website, www.met.gov.my, its social media platforms, or the myCuaca mobile application for verified and latest weather information.
