KUCHING: In the spirit of Ramadhan, a total of 1,000 servings of ‘bubur asyura’ (savoury porridge) were distributed to communities across the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof officiated at the ‘Konvoi Santai Bermotorsikal’ programme as well as the distribution of ‘bubur asyura’ by Petra Jaya Youth programme held at Kampung Samariang Batu Hall here today.
The event kicked off with a motorcycle convoy featuring 100 Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth members from the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency, representing branches from Satok branch, Samariang branch and Tupong branch.
The convoy gathered at Kolej Komuniti Kuching and departed at around 3 pm after the arrival of Fadillah, who is also the Petra Jaya Member of Parliament (MP).
He then joined the ride to Kampung Samariang Batu Hall.

There Fadillah personally handed out portions of ‘bubur asyura’ to recipients, including exco representatives from Satok, Samariang and Tupong state constituencies.
The distribution also included asnaf (underprivileged groups), with a total of 50 individuals from the three constituencies receiving food baskets sponsored by PETRONAS.
Of the 1,000 servings prepared, 800 were distributed at the event, while the remaining portions were allocated to the wider community.
After spending about an hour at the venue, Fadillah and youth representatives continued the distribution by delivering 200 more portions door-to-door using motorcycles.
The initiative was organised by the Petra Jaya MP’s service centre in collaboration with state constituencies of Satok, Tupong and Samariang.
