PAKAN: A total of 33 organisations in the district have been awarded Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants from the Pakan State Legislative Assembly (DUN), amounting to RM400,000.

All grant cheques were presented by Pakan assemblyman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom during a brief ceremony at the Pakan District Office on Wednesday (Mar 19).

The recipients include 21 Women’s Bureau, three Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) from longhouses, three Parent-Teacher Associations (PIBG), the Malaysian Government Officers’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK), Rando, the Public Works Department Sports Club (Sokanjaya JKR), and the Julau District Police Club.

In his speech, Mawan stressed the importance of ensuring that government grants are utilised effectively to fund activities that benefit the community.

“The Women’s Bureau, in particular, should take a more proactive role and work closely with the JKKK of longhouses to further strengthen the social and economic well-being of the local community,” he said.

“The JKKK should also maintain strong ties with government agencies to stay informed with the latest developments, enabling them to provide constructive feedback and ensure that rural development progresses smoothly.”
