KUCHING: Flooding in Sarawak has affected 79 individuals in the districts of Kapit and Song, with three temporary relief centres (PPS) set up to accommodate displaced families.

Women, Family, and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, confirmed the situation today to reporters at the Ihya Ramadan Programme in Tabuan Jaya.

While the floods in Sarawak are less severe than those in Johor and Sabah, Nancy assured that the government remains vigilant.

The Social Welfare Department (JKM) is actively monitoring the situation to ensure all necessary aid reaches those in need.

“JKM is always on standby in such situations, working closely with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

“So far, there have been no complaint, and I continue to monitor developments in case further assistance is required,” she said.

She also noted that JKM officers in Sarawak have been assigned specific duties to provide continuous support to affected communities.

“If necessary, their leave may be cancelled, but they take turns on duty to ensure uninterrupted assistance,” she added.

While the exact number of officers deployed in Sarawak has yet to be confirmed, Nancy assured that updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
