KUCHING: There will be 11 road closures for the MADANI Aidilfitri celebration this Saturday (AprIL 19) at the Sarawak Indoor Stadium.
The event is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The MADANI Aidilfitri celebration is part of a nationwide series of celebrations organised jointly by the federal and state governments to promote unity and harmony among Malaysians of all backgrounds.
Kuching police chief, ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, in a statement, said the road closures will be implemented from 8.30 am to ensure the smooth traffic flow.
The affected roads are as follows:
- Kasuma Resort Roundabout
- Intersection from Sumber Alam to Stadium Perpaduan
- Entrance to Stadium Perpaduan from Jalan Stadium (front)
- Entrance to Stadium Perpaduan from Jalan Stadium (rear)
- Entrance to Stadium Perpaduan from Jalan Diplomatik (in front of the Aquatic Centre)
- Entry road to Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre (1)
- Entry road to Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre (2)
- Entry road to Padang Gasing
- Jalan Diplomatik (Squash Centre)
- Lane to the bus parking area (next to the State Stadium)
- Jalan Stadium (Ring) / junction to public parking area
Those who wish to attend the event are advised to use the following routes to access the designated public parking areas:
- Vehicles coming from the SESCO roundabout are advised to make a U-turn at the Casuarina roundabout and proceed via Jalan Casuarina to enter Jalan Stadium (Ring) junction.
- Vehicles travelling along Jalan Diplomatik may proceed directly to the parking area behind Stadium Sarawak.
Meanwhile, vehicles parked at Stadium Sarawak are advised to exit via Jalan Diplomatik towards Demak, and vehicles on Jalan Stadium (Ring) are advised to exit in the direction of Jalan Casuarina.
In light of this, Farhan advised the public to refrain from parking along the roadsides and to plan their journeys by taking alternative routes to avoid congestion.
