KUCHING: The Sim Teochew Clan Association Sarawak held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at its premises on Jalan Tengah, here, bringing together members of the Sim clan to reflect on the association’s progress, honour outstanding students, and reaffirm its leadership for the next term.
President Sim Moh Khian, who chaired the meeting, began by calling on members to continue working hand in hand with the association to drive its growth and uphold its traditions.
He highlighted the importance of unity and shared commitment in ensuring the association’s ongoing success. His message of collaboration was echoed throughout the session as members discussed the achievements and challenges of the previous year.
Secretary Sim Yaw Huat delivered the 2024 Secretary’s Report, offering an overview of the association’s programmes and community engagement initiatives. Treasurer Sim Pang Song then presented the 2024 Financial Report, outlining the association’s sound financial standing and responsible stewardship of funds.
Their detailed presentations reflected the transparent and accountable leadership that has become a hallmark of the association.
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting education, the association awarded academic excellence incentives to ten students. The awards, aimed at encouraging continued hard work and perseverance, serve as a reminder of the association’s dedication to empowering the younger generation through learning and achievement.
The AGM also included the re-election of the Executive Committee for the 2025–2027 term. Leading the team once again is Sim Moh Khian, who was re-elected as President. Joining him are Sim Kee How as 1st Vice President and Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok as 2nd Vice President. The re-election of these experienced leaders reflects the confidence members have in their ability to guide the association forward.
The administrative arm of the committee remains strong with Sim Yaw Huat as Secretary and Sim Kim Poh as Assistant Secretary. Financial matters continue to be managed by Sim Pang Song as Treasurer, supported by Sim Yong Kui as Assistant Treasurer. In the area of welfare, Sim Swee Khi will continue as Welfare Officer with Sim Gek Noi as Assistant Welfare Officer, ensuring the well-being of members remains a priority.
To maintain effective communication, Sim Meng Chew has been reappointed as Chinese Correspondence Officer, assisted by Sim Li Kok. Sim Un Seng will serve as Liaison Officer, helping coordinate activities with external parties. English-language correspondence will be managed by Sim Siang Hui, with Sim Eng Khi supporting as Assistant Correspondence Officer.
The association’s educational efforts are handled by Sim Kuan Tack, who returns as Education Officer, assisted by Sim Kwang Wei. Sim Hue Han continues as Committee Member, contributing to the general operations and decision-making process. Overseeing internal audits for transparency and accountability is Sim Siang Teck, who remains as Internal Auditor.
The meeting concluded on a positive and hopeful note, with members reaffirming their commitment to the association’s goals. With a dedicated and experienced leadership team, the Sim Clan Association is well-positioned to continue its mission of fostering unity, preserving cultural heritage, and empowering future generations through education and community service.
