
SIBU: A swift response from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) prevented a bedroom fire from spreading to the entire house in an incident at Jalan Nan Sang here.
In a statement, the department said it received an emergency call at 9:43 am, and immediately dispatched a team of firefighters from Sungei Merah to the scene, located 5 kilometres away.
“Upon arrival at 9:49 am, we discovered that a bedroom in the two-storey house, measuring 20 by 40 square feet, had caught fire, resulting in 30 per cent damage to a 12 by 20 square foot area on the upper floor,” the statement said today.
In less than an hour,the firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control before concluding the operation at 10:45 am.
“All four occupants, two men and two women, were unharmed,” it added.
The cause of the fire and the total losses are still under investigation.
