SARAWAK is now ready to make history once again on the sports stage as it has been selected to host several events in conjunction with the 2027 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, said the successful hosting of the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in August last year was proof of the state’s capability to organise national-level sporting events with excellence.

“Congratulations and well done to the Sarawak Government, athletes, coaches, and all parties who made this achievement possible,” he said in his speech during the opening of the Fourth Session of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.

He expressed confidence that building on the spirit of that success, Sarawak is capable of taking on the responsibility of hosting several events during the 2027 SEA Games.

“I call upon all levels of society, including the government, private sector, and the people of Sarawak, to begin early preparations and take solid steps toward ensuring the success of these events with excellence,” he added.
