SARIKEI: A total of 22 organisations and community committees in Meradong have received allocations under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant.
The allocation, aimed at supporting grassroots development efforts, was presented during a simple event officiated by Sarikei Member of Parliament and Repok State Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, at the Sarikei Service Centre recently.
Among the beneficiaries were the Bintangor Farmers’ Association, Bintangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Meradong Basketball Club, Bintangor Fire and Rescue Sports and Welfare Club, and Meradong Foochow Association.
Various Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) from areas including Sungai Tulai, Rumah Badi, Rumah Adiah and Rumah Dipa in Sungai Lemayong also received allocations.
During the event, Huang emphasised the importance of MRP and the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) in bridging the rural-urban development gap through the provision of essential infrastructure and public amenities.
“Thanks to these allocations, we have seen significant improvements, including road upgrades, drainage maintenance and the construction of community facilities in rural areas,” he said.
He also highlighted that government allocations are distributed fairly and used optimally for the benefit of the people, regardless of race, religion or background.
