KUCHING: The drainage system around Lorong 11, Jalan Semaba is set for an upgrade through a proposed RM200,000 allocation under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap revealed the plan in a Facebook post today after conducting a site visit to the earth drain located beside the entrance of Lorong 11, accompanied by officers from the Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP).
“The purpose of the visit was to assess the condition of the existing drainage system and to discuss the proposed upgrading works aimed at resolving long-standing drainage issues affecting local residents.
“This initiative is part of Yap’s commitment to improve infrastructure and enhancing the living environment for the community in Kota Sentosa,” the post said.
During the visit, MPP’s engineering team briefed him on the proposed scope of works, which involves replacing the current earth drain with a concrete drainage system.
“The proposed works will be under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation amounting to RM200,000 from YB Wilfred Yap,” it said.
The Bill of Quantities (BQ) and technical specifications are currently being finalised by MPP engineers to ensure the efficient and cost-effective implementation of the project.
Once completed, the upgraded concrete drain will help mitigate flash floods during heavy rainfall and improve overall water flow in the area.
