THE star-studded “Violet Skies” concert by Malaysia’s beloved songstress Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza turned up the heat at the Arena of Stars recently, made even more memorable by a first-time appearance from indie rock frontman Noh Salleh.
Taking to the prestigious stage as a guest performer, Noh — lead vocalist of popular band Hujan — was visibly moved by the opportunity to share the spotlight with the nation’s top diva.
“I was truly touched to be invited as a guest at such a prestigious concert. This feels like one of the biggest milestones in my musical journey,” he said during the concert.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you. This is extraordinary and surreal for me — I mean, I’m sharing the stage with Malaysia’s number one singer!”
Noh and Siti performed a trio of songs together, including the timeless Indonesian classic “Bengawan Solo”, as well as two of Hujan’s hits, “Rahsia Tuhan” and “Pagi Yang Gelap” — much to the delight of the cheering crowd.
The concert, held in celebration of Siti’s 30-year career in the music industry, also featured heartfelt moments as she expressed gratitude to Noh and other celebrity guests in attendance, including Aina Abdul, Nadia Brian and Ashira Aziz.
Siti shared a touching reflection on her similarities with Aina, noting their humble beginnings and the unwavering support of their families.
“Thank you, dear Aina, for making the journey up to Genting to support Kak Iti,” Siti said warmly. “Even the lovely Nadia came along — thank you.”
“Aina and I are quite alike. We started from the bottom, joined competitions and had families who supported us every step of the way.
“My late father once bought me a karaoke set. I sang every day after school. But we lived in the police barracks then, so I could only sing between 4.30 pm and 5 pm when no one was home from work yet.
“Just like Aina once shared — her late father used to buy my albums and sing my songs on karaoke too,” Siti added, drawing a round of applause.
Throughout the night, Siti repeatedly thanked her loyal fanbase, especially the Sitizoners, for their continued love and support.
Performing to a sold-out crowd of around 4,600 fans, the diva belted out nearly 20 songs — most selected by fan requests — including “Aku Cinta Padamu”, “Pendirianku”, “Beradu Di Khayalan”, “Seindah Biasa”, “Sendiri”, “Usah Diragui”, “Purnama Merindu”, “Bardasila”, “Cinta Tak Berganti”, “Tak Rela Berpisah Darimu”, “Sesal” and “Bintang Malam”.
Adding a personal touch, Siti invited her nephew, Amad Dayyan, to the stage for renditions of “Seribu Kemanisan” and “Azimat Cinta”.
The evening concluded on a high note with a powerful rock medley featuring hits from the 1980s and 1990s, including “Tika dan Saat Ini”, “Di Alam Fana Cinta” and “Seribu Tahun Takkan Mungkin”, bringing the unforgettable night to a rousing close.
