KUCHING: Sarawak remains steadfast in defending and strengthening its constitutional rights as enshrined in the Federal Constitution, Sarawak Constitution, Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), and the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said this commitment forms the foundation of the state’s progress and reflects the voice and dignity of its people who aspire for a brighter future.

“Sarawak Day is a symbol of our people’s struggle and awakening in determining the direction and future of this state.

“We will continue to ensure that Sarawak’s rights are preserved and empowered in accordance with the spirit of the Federal Constitution, Sarawak Constitution, MA63 and the IGC Report,” he said in his Sarawak Day message.

He added that Sarawak’s achievements are a reflection of its far-sighted vision and the government’s sustained commitment under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in making sure the state’s voice is heard and respected.

In light of this, Awang Tengah called on all Sarawakians, especially the younger generation, to rally behind the state government’s efforts to reclaim and uphold Sarawak’s rights.

“All of this requires strong support from every level of society, particularly the youth who will carry the torch of leadership and development in Sarawak.

“The younger generation are the agents of change, and they must equip themselves with education, skills, and knowledge in line with current developments to face the challenges of a more competitive economic landscape,” he said.
