LUBOK ANTU: Low-carbon practices are an important step in addressing the increasingly apparent challenges of current climate change.
International Trade, Industry and Investment Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh said that such practices refer to efforts, lifestyles, technologies, policies, or systems aimed at reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere to mitigate the effects of climate change.
“Low-carbon means reducing air pollution, using energy efficiently, promoting the use of renewable energy, and reducing the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, petrol, and diesel,” he said.
He said this during the Low Carbon Programme organised by the Lubok Antu District Council (MDLA) 2025 at Batang Ai, here recently.
He added that low-carbon practices include activities such as tree planting, which helps absorb carbon dioxide, as well as cycling or walking and reducing the use of motor vehicles.
He explained that such integrated efforts not only address climate change issues but also help create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for future generations.
