KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching, a local non-governmental organisation (NGO), is stepping in to support a mother of four who is currently facing financial hardship after undergoing surgery.

Noor Elnisa Hasbi, 34, recently reached out to Hope Place for assistance.

The mother, who is still recovering from thyroid surgery performed in June, is currently jobless and dependent on her 67-year-old mother, a pensioner, to support herself and her four school-going children.

The family resides in Kampung Tabuan Melayu.

Elnisa was diagnosed with a thyroid condition last year after experiencing a frightening episode.

“While I was jogging, I suddenly couldn’t breathe at all. I also felt intense abdominal pain and had to be rushed to the hospital. That’s when I found out I had thyroid,” she shared with Hope Place.

Before her illness, Elnisa ran a small business selling salted fish (‘pais’) to support her family, but health complications forced her to stop, leaving them without a stable income.

Despite the challenges, Elnisa beams with pride when talking about her children, aged 12 to 17, who are active in school and excel in Muay Thai martial arts, having participated in and won numerous competitions.

Hope Place is currently providing food aid to Elnisa’s family and has expressed gratitude to the generous donors who continue supporting families in need.

For those who wish to contribute, donations can be made to Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching (PKHK) via bank transfer to Maybank (MBB): 511289001160.
