PADAWAN: A total of 26 out of 76 dilapidated school upgrade projects have been completed statewide.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the projects, costing a total of RM3.86 billion, also include 30 schools currently under construction and 20 in the pre-construction phase.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that several projects were completed ahead of schedule despite some facing challenges.

“I would like to thank all parties involved for ensuring the successful completion of these projects.

“Some were completed ahead of time, others just in time, and I appreciate the efforts of all government agencies that made this possible,” he told a press conference after officiating at the handover ceremony for two completed school projects at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Rantau Panjang, here today (Aug 2).

The Replacement Project for six classrooms and facilities at SK Rantau Panjang in Padawan, along with the Full Replacement Project for SK Bakong in Sri Aman, were among key MADANI government initiatives implemented through the Works Ministry and Public Works Department (PWD) Malaysia.

Nanta said the RM20.99 million SK Rantau Panjang project and RM29.98 million SK Bakong project aimed to upgrade educational infrastructure in rural areas in line with national aspirations to create a more conducive and inclusive teaching and learning ecosystem.

“We are not just building structures, but also building hope and the future by making schools a space for nurturing knowledgeable, ethical, tech-savvy and competitive future generations.

“The successful completion and handover of these two projects on schedule today proves that the MADANI government’s aspirations are not mere rhetoric, but are realised through quality projects delivered on time and adding value to the community.

“I hope the facilities provided will be well utilised and maintained by the school community so they can remain sustainable and functional for generations as centres for producing outstanding Sarawakian students,” he said.
