SIBU: Upgrading works on the multi-purpose hall in Kampung Bungan Besar, located in the Bawang Assan area, have been completed ahead of schedule.
The project, which began in early July, was completed on Monday (Aug 4), earlier than anticipated.
A team from the Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew’s service centre conducted a simple handover ceremony at the site.
According to Ling, the facility was officially handed over to the village’s Neighbourhood Committee on the same day.
“The enhancement project, funded under the Program Mesra Rakyat (PMR) Kerajaan Madani 2024, involved the construction of a perimeter wall and the installation of aluminium-glass windows.
“These improvements allow longhouse residents to use the hall for badminton and other recreational activities,” he said.
Ling noted that public health is vital to the nation, adding that good personal health not only benefits individuals but also reduces the financial burden on families and eases pressure on the national healthcare system.
He said the project reflects the effective use of funds under the Madani Government’s PMR 2024 initiative to enhance community infrastructure in the Sibu constituency.
Ling also expressed hope that local residents will make full use of the upgraded sports facilities to improve their physical health through regular exercise.
