BINTANGOR: The drainage and maintenance system in rural areas, particularly in Bintangor, is set to be upgraded.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, who is also Sarikei MP, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, said that an allocation has been proposed through the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarikei Division to carry out the work.

“This initiative aims to address issues of stagnant water, blocked water flow, and ineffective drainage systems that are frequently faced by local residents,” he said.

To ensure a more comprehensive and high-impact improvement can be carried out, a site visit was recently conducted involving the Sarikei Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre team together with technical officers from DID Sarikei.

The inspection covered several identified problematic locations, including Jalan Sing Tung Kwong, Batu 6.5 Jalan Kelupu, Sungai Palaie-Mador, Sungai Jalan Chai Hing Tulai, Jalan Kai Sian Mador, Jalan Rumah Lidik Baling Sungai Mador, Jalan Tulai, and the Koperasi Tulai area.

Local residents welcomed the proactive measure and expressed their appreciation for Huang’s concern in voicing grassroots issues and ensuring long-term solutions can be achieved.

This integrated action also demonstrates the commitment of the Sarikei elected representative to ensuring that rural infrastructure development continues to be strengthened in an inclusive and sustainable manner.
