SIBU: A 12-year-old girl, Yip, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in April, received financial assistance and help to apply for long-term welfare support.
Deputy Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, accompanied by Kapitan So Teck Kee, visited Yip’s family here to deliver the aid and assist with the welfare application recently.
During the visit, they also assisted the family in applying for welfare aid to ensure long-term support.
“I will closely monitor Yip’s treatment progress and hope she will recover gradually with continuous care,” said the Pelawan assemblyman.
Crohn’s disease is a rare chronic inflammatory bowel disease.
Yip was diagnosed after being admitted to Sibu Hospital due to prolonged diarrhoea.
Following several tests, she was referred to a government hospital in Malaya for further diagnosis.
Now back in Sibu, she requires follow-up treatment, regular injections, and special formula milk to meet her nutritional needs.
