SIBU: The University of llorin (Unilorin), Nigeria, and the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) here will formalise a strategic academic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday (Aug 19).
The MoU ceremony was held at the UTS senate room, whereby Unilorin was represented by its Vice Chancellor, Prof Wahab Olasupo while Prof Dr Mohd Shahril Osman acted on behalf of UTS as its Deputy Vice Chancellor.
According to the UTS’s press statement in conjunction with the MoU’s signing, the collaboration marks a significant step toward deepening international academic ties, with a shared focus on fostering joint educational initiatives, academic exchanges, research cooperation, and mutual capacity building.
Both institutions are aligned in their commitment to promoting global learning and innovation.
“The MoU underscores a mutual vision to expand cross-border collaboration in higher education and to strengthen academic excellence through meaningful and impactful partnership,” the statement added.
Among those present were Unilorin Pro Chancellor, Surveyor Jacob Abiodun; Unilorin Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Muhtar Adeiza; Unilorin Librarian, Prof Kamal Tunde; UTS Registrar, Jimmy De Rozario; UTS Dean of School of Business & Management, Prof Dr Winnie Wong Poh Ming and UTS Dean of School of Engineering & Technology; Assoc Prof Dr Dayang Siti Hazimmah Ali.
