BINTULU: The Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government successfully facilitated the resolution of technical compliance issues that stalled a sick housing project in Kemena Land District for seven years.
The ministry in a statement said the project, developed by Tiara Seni Sdn Bhd at Lot 6256 and Lot 6258, Block 32, had originally been scheduled for completion in December 2017 but was delayed, affecting 75 house purchasers.
Through the Technical Committee for Housing Project Monitoring (JKTP) meeting on October 17, 2024, and subsequent engagements, the ministry worked in coordination with the Sewerage Services Department, Land and Survey Department, Bintulu Development Authority, the developer, and buyers to overcome technical hurdles.
“These efforts enabled the developer to secure the Occupation Permit (OP) in stages, paving the way for the handover of vacant possession to owners,” the statement added.
“The first batch of OPs was issued on July 14, 2025, covering 38 double-storey terrace and semi-detached units. The second batch followed on August 6, 2025, for 46 double-storey terrace units. Several of these houses have since been handed over to purchasers.”
Other units, including townhouses, remain under construction or rectification.
As such, the ministry assured that works are ongoing and will continue to be closely monitored until completion.
The ministry added that the progress reflects the effectiveness of JKTP as a platform to deliberate on issues, obtain technical input, and expedite delivery of problematic housing projects.
“The ministry reaffirms its commitment to protecting the interests of house purchasers and will continue to intensify efforts in facilitating the problematic housing projects to ensure that houses are successfully completed and purchasers could enter a place of shelter, safety and comfort,” the statement added.
