BAU: A civil servant was killed in a collision at KM18.5, Jalan Bau-Serikin near Kampung Pinomu early yesterday morning (Aug 23).
The fatal accident occurred at around 6.10 am when the 34-year-old victim, who was riding a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle, was found lying on the road.
Moments later, a Toyota Yaris driven by a 25-year-old woman came along the stretch and was unable to avoid the victim, hitting him.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, and his body was taken to Bau Hospital for a post-mortem.
Bau police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer, who confirmed the case, said it is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He urged those with information regarding the accident to come forward to assist with investigation or contact the nearest police station.
All road users are reminded to remain vigilant, ensure their vehicles are in good condition, and practise tolerance on the road for the safety of all.
