MATU: The theme ‘Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni’ is significant as it reflects the shared commitment between the federal government and the Sarawak Government in building a caring and inclusive society.

Matu District Officer, Hamidah Halpi, said that the MADANI concept is also in line with the aspirations of ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur 2030’.

“For us in Sarawak, the concept of ‘Rakyat Disantuni’ is very meaningful because it ensures that no region or community is left behind in the nation’s development.

“The Sarawak Government, together with the federal government, will always ensure that the state’s autonomy rights are preserved, thereby improving the quality of life for the people at all levels,” she said.

She made these remarks while officiating at the ‘2025 Merdeka Jalur Gemilang Convoy Programme’ (KMJG) at the Kampung Jemoreng Community Hall on Wednesday.

In this regard, she called on all Sarawak residents to join the “1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang” campaign.

“This is the best opportunity for us to express our love and loyalty to our beloved country by proudly flying the Jalur Gemilang at every home.”

“By flying the Jalur Gemilang at each home, we not only enliven the National Day celebrations but also strengthen the bonds of unity as Malaysians.

“At the same time, it symbolises our national spirit and unity in appreciating the country’s independence.

“We must remember that every small step taken to show love for the country will have a great impact on future generations,” she explained.

Hamidah also emphasised that the people need to ensure that Malaysia, especially Sarawak, remains competitive on the global stage.

“Every effort made today is the foundation for future excellence, and with the spirit of cooperation, we can uphold the dignity of the nation and elevate the name of our beloved Malaysia,” she added.

Also present were the Deputy Director of the Information Department (JAPEN) Sarawak and head of the convoy, Siti Fairuz Ngatenan, and the Matu District Information Officer, Nurhayati Abdul Halim.
