MIRI: A quiet Friday morning in Senadin was thrown into disarray when a seven-foot python slithered into the compound of a family home, prompting an emergency call to the Fire and Rescue Department.
The incident, which took place at a house along Jalan Perkasa, unfolded just after dawn. At 6.30 am, a resident alerted authorities after spotting the reptile coiled in his yard.
Within minutes, a fire engine and a five-man crew from the Miri fire station were dispatched to the scene, led by senior fire officer Iskandar Aus.
They arrived at 6.39 am and swiftly began the delicate task of capturing the snake.
Using snake tongs and a restraining noose, firefighters managed to subdue the python within minutes, ensuring no harm came to the animal or the residents.
The operation was declared safe by 6.47 am, with the team returning to the station shortly before 7 am.
The python is expected to be released back into a safe habitat, away from human settlements.
