BINTULU: A seven-year-old boy was confirmed dead after he fell into a roadside ditch along Jalan Sebaru last night (Aug 31).
The victim, identified as Ricky Peter Bandang, was believed to have fallen and drowned in the waters at around 8.45 pm.
Firefighters from Bintulu station were dispatched to the scene, about 6km away, following a distress call.
Upon arrival, the team conducted surface searching and found the boy’s body about two metres from where his clothes were discovered.
Medical personnel later confirmed his death at the scene, and his remains were handed over to the police for further action.
The team ended the operation at 10.07 pm.
