GEDONG: The Muslim community must rise to new challenges brought about by modern technology, which is increasingly shaping human lifestyles from communication to agriculture and the economy.
In stating this, adviser to the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), Datuk Seri Mohd Naroden Majais, said that Muslims should not be left behind in this wave of change but instead embrace knowledge and harness technology to ensure sustainable living and community development.

“Applications of artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT, the use of drones in agriculture, and other new innovations must be seen as opportunities. If applied correctly, they can drive development and bring great benefits to Muslims,” he told.
He said this when officiating at the district-level Maulidur Rasul celebration here, of which was attended by more than 250 guests at Dewan Datuk Patinggi Ali yesterday.
In Gedong, Naroden said technological adoption is already underway such as in paddy cultivation in Kampung Lubok Punggor – an initiative expected to boost yields and transform the rural economy.
“New ventures such as algae cultivation are also being explored, to open up job opportunities and competitive markets for the local community,” he said.
Meanwhile, the six-day celebration from September 1 to 6 features various programmes, including a Junior Preacher Contest, Quran Recital, berzanji, zikir and nasyid performances.
For the Gedong community, the event was not only about commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW, but also about strengthening unity and enriching knowledge.
