KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, received a courtesy call from the Sarawak Public Service Commission (SPANS) at the Astana Negeri Sarawak today.

The SPANS delegation was led by its newly appointed Chairman, Datuk Kameri Affandi, accompanied by Deputy Chairman, Datuk Antonio Kahti Galis, as well as officers from SPANS.

The courtesy call was aimed at introducing the new chairman of SPANS while also sharing the commission’s direction and current functions, particularly its efforts to strengthen the public service recruitment system based on the principles of meritocracy, integrity and efficiency.

During the meeting, Wan Junaidi highlighted the important role of SPANS in enhancing governance within the state civil service, streamlining recruitment processes, and focusing on identifying and nurturing Sarawakian talent to maximise their potential for the state’s development.

He also shared insights from his more than four decades of experience in government administration, including his tenure in key federal ministries such as the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE), Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), and Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDC), before being appointed as President of the Senate.

Wan Junaidi expressed his hope that SPANS will continue to carry out its mandate with professionalism and dedication, ensuring that the state public service recruitment and administration system remains efficient, transparent and credible for the well-being of the people and the progress of Sarawak.
