LUNDU: The spirit of togetherness filled the air as the people of Kampung Biawak gathered to celebrate the ‘Jalinan Insan Wahana Aspirasi (JIWA) @ Komuniti MADANI’ programme, which was held in conjunction with Malaysia’s National Day and Malaysia Day.
Opar State Assemblyman, Billy Sujang, who officiated at the event, stressed that the unity of the people remains the key driver of social development and harmony.
“The JIWA Komuniti concept is rooted in gotong-royong (communal cooperation), mutual concern and a culture of helping one another.
“These values are the foundation of a harmonious society,” he said.
Billy also highlighted Kampung Biawak’s unique role as a vital gateway due to its strategic location along the border.
“The community here must remain strong in spirit and united in action to uphold its significance as a border settlement,” he added.
Billy later continued his working visit to Kampung Opar, where he met with residents, listened to their aspirations, and observed community needs on the ground.
The event resonated with the Malaysia MADANI values of inclusiveness and shared well-being, while aligning with Sarawak’s ‘Maju Makmur’ vision to foster a prosperous and harmonious society.
The strong presence of local leaders, government agencies, community organisations and residents underscored the community’s enduring patriotism and collective commitment to unity, especially among rural populace.
