BINTULU: The construction of the Medan Jaya Flyover in Bintulu is progressing steadily, with 54 percent of the work completed and full completion targeted for June 2026.

Tanjung Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming said the project’s delay has disrupted smooth traffic flow and increased the risk of accidents.

“This flyover is very important because the congestion along Medan Jaya not only inconveniences road users but also poses accident risks.

“I hope this project will truly be completed next year for the safety and comfort of the public,” he said after inspecting the construction site yesterday (Sept 15).

Meanwhile, Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) director Cassidy Morris, said that the RM38 million project has now reached 54 percent completion, with approximately 200 workers stationed at the construction site.

“JKR will continue to closely monitor the contractor’s work to ensure the project is completed on schedule.

“Closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems have also been installed at the construction area, similar to what was implemented during the Jepak Bridge project,” he said.

The Medan Jaya Flyover is expected to provide a long-term solution to persistent traffic issues in the area, improving road safety and easing the daily commute for Bintulu residents.
