MIRI: Over 400 regional health experts attended the 3rd Borneo Diabetes Conference 2025 on Friday to strengthen efforts in tackling diabetes and obesity.
The event was officiated by Sarawak Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, who represented Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
In his speech, Lee commended the organisers for successfully hosting a high-impact conference that brought together health professionals from across the region to share knowledge and enhance collaborative efforts against diabetes and obesity.
“The hosting of an international-level conference in Miri reflects the Sarawak Government’s continued commitment to advancing healthcare, while also supporting the state’s tourism and economic development agenda,” he said.
Lee further highlighted that the state government remains steadfast in its focus on infrastructure development, with particular emphasis on strengthening specialist services at Miri Hospital and expanding healthcare access to rural and interior communities across northern Sarawak.
The conference was further enriched by the presence of guest speakers from within and outside the country, who discussed various aspects of diabetes treatment, prevention, and management.
