SIBU: The Sarawak branch of the Malaysian Navy Veterans Association (PVTLDM) recently received two invitations to attend ceremonies outside the state that honour soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending the country.

PVTLDM Sarawak President, Warrant Officer 1 (B) Unyok Dasi, said that the first invitation they had received was to attend the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) Commemoration Day 2025, which had been organised by the Malaysian Armed Forces Chinese Veterans Association (MACVA) and held at the National Monument in Kuala Lumpur on September 21.

According to him, PVTLDM Sarawak, which has more than 200 members across Sarawak, regarded the invitation as a great and invaluable recognition of veterans in the state.

“The PVTLDM Sarawak is very proud to be invited to attend this ceremony and, at the same time, honoured to lay a wreath at the National Monument. It not only represents the veterans of Sarawak but also the people of Sarawak as a whole,” he said in a statement yesterday (Sept 30).

He added that the second invitation came from the Penang Security Veterans Association, which will organise its annual ceremony to commemorate soldiers who died while defending the country, scheduled to be held in Penang in mid-November.

He said PVTLDM Sarawak is deeply honoured and proud of the invitation and will hold further discussions in the near future to work together with the organisers to ensure the success of the ceremony.
