TATAU: Human remains recovered from a crocodile at Sungai Semanok this morning have been confirmed to belong to a man who was attacked while bathing in the river last week.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the remains belonged to 21-year-old Jeffery Masing Win, who was attacked while bathing in a river with his brother near a plantation hut on September 27.
The confirmation was made by the victim’s family at 2:21 pm, following the discovery of the remains during the fourth day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
Following the identification, the search was officially called off at 4:14 pm.
Earlier, the department said villagers reported that a crocodile had been caught and dragged to shore at Rumah Win at around 9:25 am.
A joint team comprising Bomba, the Police, the Civil Defence Force (APM) and Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) was immediately deployed to the scene.
At around 10:30 am, SFC personnel, assisted by Bomba, carried out a dissection of the reptile and found human remains, including a head, jaw, abdomen and thigh.
The remains were later handed over to police.
Authorities subsequently captured two more crocodiles at the scene, but no human remains were found in their stomachs.
