KUCHING: Toastmasters Clubs under District 87, Division D (Kuching, Bintulu, Miri and Brunei) have rolled out a series of outreach programmes aimed at developing communication and leadership skills among the community.
Division D director and Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Joanna Then Poh Ding said the 2025–2026 term had seen encouraging participation in activities organised across the division.
“For example, on Sept 16, the Kuching Bilingual Advanced Toastmasters Club organised a Toastmasters’ Speechcraft Workshop at the Kuching Community Social Support Centre (CSSC),” she said in a statement.
The one-day workshop attracted 15 aspiring speakers and was facilitated by experienced Toastmasters from various clubs in Kuching.

Five modules were conducted, covering introduction to public speaking, speech organisation, body language and vocal variety, speech evaluation, and impromptu speaking.
Joanna added that on Sept 27, Toastmasters from several Kuching clubs conducted a demonstration meeting for 15 team members of The Roof Realty Sarawak-Landestate Group at their office here.
“A demo meeting mimics the structure and feel of a regular Toastmasters meeting, with sessions for prepared speeches, impromptu speeches and evaluations,” she said.
She noted that the initiative not only introduced the programme to non-members but also underscored the importance of effective communication and leadership in both personal and professional growth.
