KUCHING: The Indian Association Kuching (IAK) hosted its Annual Deepavali Charity 2025, celebrating the spirit of light, compassion, and community unity.

The event was graced by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, who attended on behalf of Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

“Deepavali is a festival that transcends race and religion.”

Wee said this when delivering Dr Sim’s speech at the IAK Multipurpose Hall here on Monday (Oct 13).

He commended the association for its continued efforts in assisting B40 families and strengthening social ties through acts of generosity.

“Events like this remind us that prosperity is best shared, and every act of giving brings light into someone’s life, just as the lamps of Deepavali bring brightness to the world,” said Wee.

The event exemplifies the spirit of muhibbah and inclusivity in Kuching, reflecting the city’s multicultural harmony and compassion.

The event was supported by community partners, sponsors, and volunteers who helped spread festive cheer to the underprivileged.
