TEBEDU: A new bridge across Sungai Karu in Kampung Pichin here has been completed, providing safer access and boosting connectivity for the rural community.

The RM150,000 project was delivered in under three months by the Public Works Department (PWD) Serian and handed over to the villagers on Monday (Oct 13).

Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada, who officiated at the handover, said the bridge would not only serve the daily needs of residents but also complement local tourism initiatives.

“This facility offers convenience for villagers and will benefit visitors, especially those staying at the Awah Gawai Homestay in Kampung Pichin,” he said.

He urged the community to take good care of the new structure, noting that it should be viewed as an investment for the village’s long-term development.

PWD Serian said the bridge design was the first of its kind in the district and reflected the department’s commitment to delivering efficient, high-impact projects.
