KUALA LUMPUR: The annual Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak (LBAS) 2025 programme once again drew hundreds of Sarawakian students and professionals to the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), reaffirming its role as a unifying platform for Sarawakians residing in Peninsular Malaysia.

The event, held to strengthen ties between the Sarawak Government and its people living outside the state, featured interactive exhibitions, career exposure sessions, and networking opportunities with government agencies, NGOs, and the private sectors.

Sarawak Tribune took the opportunity to chat with some of the attendees to find out their hopes and aspirations.

For 20-year-old Paul Devine Rizard, from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), this was his second time attending the event.

“This is my second time attending Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak (LBAS25), and it never disappoints.

“With so many engaging activities, I hope this programme continues in the years ahead,” he said.

Echoing Paul’s sentiments, Felissa Sally Francis Lien, 22, from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), said the initiative provided valuable insights for students preparing to enter the workforce.

“Bringing together public agencies, NGOs, and the private sectors allow students to get a glimpse of real-world work experiences.

“The friendliness of those involved also made it a very positive experience,” she said.

Another student from UiTM, Nicholase Nimrod Kadap, 23, said the event fostered a sense of belonging.

“The atmosphere was comfortable and familiar, almost as if I were back in Kuching among friends. It was truly enjoyable,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hanna Felzaty Arman Raki, 23, from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), described the programme as a valuable opportunity to unite Sarawakian students in Peninsular Malaysia.

“This programme is an excellent platform to bring together Sarawakian students studying in Peninsular Malaysia.

“It’s a great opportunity to build good relationships and strengthen our sense of unity,” she said.

The LBAS programme, now running in its 17th year, continues to serve as a bridge connecting Sarawakians across Malaysia while promoting the spirit of togetherness, pride, and shared identity.
