SIMANGGANG: A site visit to the proposed new longhouse of Rh Lukas Nanang in Kampung Sungai Nunggang, Temiang, Undop was conducted by Deputy Minister of Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis recently.

Harden, who is also the Simanggang assemblyman, said the site visit at Tinting Berani was in response to the villagers’ request to build a new longhouse aimed at preserving their traditional communal living.

“Following this, the Public Works Department (PWD) Sri Aman will carry out a follow-up technical inspection and prepare cost estimates for the site at Tinting Berani,” he said.

He added that the longhouse is a symbol of unity and cooperation among the Iban community that has been passed down through generations.

During the visit, Harden announced a Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation of RM5,000 for 2026 to the Sungai Nunggang Temiang Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK), and another RM3,000 to its Women’s Bureau for community activities.

He also approved RM5,000 in MRP funds for the JKKK of Kampung Temiang Baru during a brief stop at Rh Bericha Jumpu to meet residents.
