KUCHING: Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia to Sarawak, Abdullah Zulkifli, has presented his letter of credentials from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana Negeri Sarawak today (Oct 28).
The presentation, which followed Abdullah’s appointment in September, marked the official commencement of his duties in the state, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Sarawak.
Abdullah was accompanied by his wife during the courtesy visit, which was also attended by Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The visit also saw the discussion of efforts to further enhance cooperation between the two regions, particularly between Kalimantan and Sarawak, which share a common border.
This includes collaboration in the energy sector and, more importantly, connectivity between Sarawak and Indonesia, with Nusantara set to become Indonesia’s new capital city by 2028.
Wan Junaidi also shared his views on the long-standing historical relationship between Sarawak and Kalimantan, which serves as evidence of the close ties between the people of both regions.
