KUCHING: Holders of unused parking coupons in Kuching can begin returning them for refunds as the city transitions to the new Kuching Smart Parking System starting tomorrow (Nov 1).
Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) and Kuching South City Council (MBKS) said coupon refunds can be made at the Kuching City Parking System Office here.
Eligible coupons for refund are those purchased between Jan 1 and Oct 31, within the following serial ranges: 20 sen: AP05530001 – AP09530000, 50 sen: BB3426001 – BB3506000, and 80 sen: CB0750001 – CB0780000
The councils advised coupon holders to submit their refund claims before Nov 30, and to do so early to avoid last-minute congestion.
“We encourage the public to return their unused parking coupons as soon as possible to ensure a smooth refund process and avoid congestion towards the end of the period,” the councils said in the statement.
Starting Nov 1, the old coupon-based parking system will be replaced by the Kuching Smart Parking System, a digital platform aimed at enhancing convenience for users, improving enforcement efficiency, and supporting Kuching’s goal of becoming a smart and sustainable city.
“This initiative marks another step forward in our effort to improve service delivery, promote environmentally friendly practices, and make Kuching a model smart city,” the councils added.
Both DBKU and MBKS expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation and understanding during this transition period, reaffirming their commitment to improving the quality of urban living through smart technology and data-driven city management.
