SAMARAHAN: The Faculty of Education, Language and Communication (FPBK), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), continues to enhance its reputation in educational excellence with 50 new postgraduate students joining its Master of Education programmes this academic session.

The 50 new students comprise enrollees of the Master of Education (TESOL) and Master of Education (Learning Sciences) programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session, including four international participants from China, Somalia and Singapore.

The inclusion of international students reflects the growing global recognition of FPBK’s postgraduate programmes and their ability to attract learners from diverse cultural backgrounds.

During the FPBK 2025 Postgraduate Students Welcoming Ceremony held at the Multimedia Theatre Room (TMM), FPBK Dean Dr Dilah Tuah expressed pride in the increasing interest in the field of education and warmly welcomed both international students and local teachers pursuing postgraduate studies.

“The presence of international students and teachers from across Sarawak shows that FPBK has become a focal point for those seeking to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and professionalism in education.

“At UNIMAS, we nurture educators with great spirit and global perspectives,” he said in a statement issued by UNIMAS today.

He also shared that FPBK plans to introduce two new programmes next year, namely the Bachelor of Education (TESOL) and the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).

“These initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the ecosystem of teacher training and professional education in Sarawak and the Borneo region,” he said.

For the record, the event also featured an introduction session for academic staff, programme briefings, and interactive engagements between new students and lecturers.
