MIRI: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) here demonstrated its commitment to community welfare with a heartfelt outreach programme at Kampung Lereng Bukit.
It was held in collaboration with the village head Aminudin Morshidi.
The initiative, organised by the MRCS Community Care and Protection Committee, saw volunteers from across Miri come together to deliver essential aid and engage residents on key social issues.
Volunteers gathered at the MRCS Miri district headquarters before travelling to the village, where they received a warm welcome from residents.
The day’s programme included the distribution of food baskets to families in need, providing much-needed support to households facing daily challenges.
Alongside material aid, the team conducted a public awareness session focusing on health, hygiene, and social responsibility, equipping the community with practical knowledge to improve well-being.
“The goal is not just to provide assistance, but to strengthen the bonds between the Red Crescent and the community,” said Dr Uma Devi, chairperson of the Community Care and Protection Subcommittee.
