DUN Sarawak: Premier to table 2026 State Budget on Monday

KUCHING: The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) will sit for eight days beginning tomorrow (Monday) for the Third Meeting of the Fourth Term of the 19th Assembly.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who is also Minister for Finance and New Economy, will present the Supply (2026) Bill 2025, which outlines the state’s financial provisions for next year.

The Bill will later be referred to the Committee of Supply for consideration of the 2026 development estimates.

Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah is expected to table the Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) Bill 2025.

The Bill will pave the way for Sarawak to expand its Cabinet in a move for the government to cope with rising administrative demands and the state’s 2030 development targets.

The Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) Bill 2025 is slated for the second and third readings during tomorrow’s sitting.

Meanwhile, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian will table the Building (Amendment) Bill 2025, which is also scheduled for both its second and third readings tomorrow.

The Bill aims to update regulatory provisions under the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government.

Two other government Bill – Supplementary Supply (2025) Bill 2025, and the Sustainable Resources and Wastes Management Bill 2025, will also be tabled for debates by Assembly members during this year-end session.
